Art Club

The BPSP Art Club is a group of 30 children from years 4 -7, meeting once a week to explore their creativity and push the boundaries of Art in schools. They work in all manner of media and get involved in lots of amazing, diverse projects, taking their work to new audiences of all ages. Have a look for yourself… Art Club gets about a bit!

Past projects:

Meltdown at Hubworld, Alum Chine, June 2008
We were involved in the sensational closing ceremony to mark the achievements of the Cultural Hub; there were dancers, musicians, sculptors, photographers, visual artists and tons of school children. Art Club created 10 giant ice-lolly sculptures that were installed in the beach for the exhibition. They looked good enough to eat!

Bugsy sets, April 2008
Art Club was crucial in the designing and development of the brilliant 1930's-style sets for the Bugsy production. These involved backlit screens, cut-out cars and cases of splurge guns!

The Ashley Cross Book project, November 2007
Last year Art Club (and parents) were lucky enough to get out into the community of Lower Parkstone to collaborate with local shopkeepers on the design and manufacture of a number of unique artists books. The works were brought together for the MESSAGES exhibition at the Study Gallery of Modern Art where they enjoyed critical acclaim and much handling!

Incoming:

Paul Klee at Poole Quay
Art Club are currently involved in the creation of a giant mixed-media expressionist mural about Poole Harbour and surroundings. They have taken the work of German artist Paul Klee as their inspiration. Watch this space!

Decorations for the Poole Schools Music Association Christmas Concert
This Christmas, Art Club have been enlisted to spruce up the Wessex Hall at the Lighthouse, Poole with their own take on musically themed decorations. Deck the Halls!
